Bengaluru, Feb. 11 : In a major step toward strengthening breast cancer awareness across India, former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s YouWeCan Foundation has successfully conducted large-scale screening and awareness programs under its Swasth Mahila–Swasth Bharat initiative in Kalaburagi district, Karnataka.
The campaign, aimed at improving early detection and awareness of breast cancer, has made significant inroads among underserved and rural communities.

Key Highlights from Kalaburagi
The initiative focused on reaching women in remote and economically disadvantaged areas, ensuring access to preventive healthcare services that are often limited in such regions.

Nationwide Impact
Launched in July 2024, the large-scale awareness program has been implemented across selected districts in 15 states, prioritizing backward and underserved regions.
In its first phase alone, the program also conducted extensive community outreach camps, educating more than 21,000 women about breast health, self-examination techniques, and the importance of early detection.

Yuvraj Singh’s Message
Speaking about the initiative, Yuvraj Singh emphasized that early detection is the key to reducing breast cancer-related deaths.
“To reduce deaths caused by breast cancer, early detection is crucial. We do not lack treatment facilities; what we lack is awareness. With technology-assisted screening and grassroots awareness, we can effectively fight breast cancer,” he said.
Encouraged by the success of the first phase, the foundation has announced the launch of the second phase of the Swasth Mahila–Swasth Bharat program, aiming to expand its reach and impact further.
The initiative marks a significant step toward bridging the healthcare access gap and strengthening preventive cancer care across India.
As part of Yuvraj Singh’s YouWeCan Foundation initiative “Swasth Mahila–Swasth Bharat,” a large-scale breast cancer awareness and screening camp was conducted in Kalaburagi, Karnataka. Around 4,000 women were screened in the district, with 565 suspected cases identified and four confirmed as breast cancer. The nationwide program has reached over five lakh people, aiming to promote early detection and reduce breast cancer-related deaths through awareness and technology-supported screening.
