ಸಮಾಜ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ, ಐಎಎಸ್ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಕ್ಯಾ. ಪಿ.ಮಣಿವಣ್ಣನ್ ಅವರು ನಿನ್ನೆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದು ಕದ್ರಿ ಪಾಕ್೯ ಬಳಿಯಿರುವ ಸಮಾಜ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ನಿಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಮಲಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರನ್ನು ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯಚಕಿತರನ್ನಾಗಿಸಿ, ಸರಳತೆ ಮೆರೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ‌.

Mangaluru, Oct 27: Social Welfare Department Principal Secretary and IAS officer K. P Manivannan, who arrived in Mangaluru last night, slept with the students at the social welfare department's hostel near Kadri Pak and surprised the people present there.

He arrived in Mangaluru by flight at 9.30 pm on Thursday and left the room booked at the circuit house and slept directly in the hostel of the department under him. On Thursday morning, he was scheduled to board a train and get down at Nettana station and visit hostels under the social welfare department near Sullia and Subramanya. But at the last moment, train travel and visits were cut short. However, he arrived in Mangaluru by flight in the evening and stayed in the hostel.

On Friday, he will attend a meeting at the deputy commissioner's office in the city and court proceedings. Manivannan is a simple IAS officer who is popular in the state. As principal secretary of the labour department during the covid-19 pandemic, he had taken strict measures in the interest of the workers. When the then government made the transfer in a hurry, the workers had launched a campaign called 'Bring Back Captain'.
